MAINTAINING a POOL in WINTER is crucial to prevent damage and will help make sure it’s ready to go when the weather warms back up!
Here are a few tips-
1. LOWER the WATER LEVEL to prevent freezing, which can damage pool tiles or liner. Make sure it’s below the skimmer level but not so low that it affects the pool structure!
2. CLEAN the POOL THROUGHLY! Remove any debris and vacuum the pool to prevent organic materials from decomposing and causing algae growth or staining.
3. Balance the Pool Chemistry! Ensure the pH, alkalinity, and calcium hardness are balanced before closing the pool. This helps prevent corrosion or scaling over the winter months.
4. Add WINTERIZING CHEMICALS using a winterizing kit with algaecide, chlorine, or antifreeze (specific for pools) to keep the water clean and prevent algae or bacteria growth.
5. PROTECT the POOL EQUIPMENT- Drain water from pool equipment like pumps, filters, and heaters to prevent freezing. Store removable parts like ladders and hoses indoors if possible!
6. CHECK POOL REGULARLY- During winter, check the pool monthly to remove debris and inspect for any issues with water levels or chemical balance.
These easy steps will help keep your POOL SAFE from winter damage and save you from dealing with costly repairs come spring!
